This policy explains what information is processed when you use Ads21 (ads21.net, including all 46 country editions), why, and the choices and rights you have. Ads21 is a free, read-only flyer and catalogue directory: there are no user accounts, no sign-up, no comments and no newsletter, so we collect very little about you directly.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller for this website is the operator of Ads21. You can contact us about anything in this policy at contact@ads21.net.
2. Information we process
- Server logs. Like almost every website, our web server automatically records technical request data: IP address, date and time, the page requested, referring page, and browser/device type (user agent). This is used to keep the site running, secure and free of abuse, and is kept only for a limited period by our hosting provider.
- Search terms. If you use the site search, the words you type are sent to our server to produce results. We do not link them to your identity.
- Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use it only to answer you and to act on your request (for example a correction or removal).
- Cookies and similar technologies set by us and by the third-party services described below.
We do not ask for, and do not knowingly collect, sensitive data such as health information, payment card details or government identifiers.
3. Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. Ads21 itself does not need cookies to show you flyers, but the third-party services below can set cookies or use similar identifiers (such as local storage or device identifiers) when you visit:
- Advertising cookies (Google AdSense). See section 4.
- Analytics cookies (Microsoft Clarity). See section 5.
You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings; most browsers also let you block third-party cookies only. Blocking cookies will not stop the flyers from working, but ads may become less relevant.
4. Advertising: Google AdSense and the DoubleClick (DART) cookie
Ads21 uses, or may use, Google AdSense to display advertising that pays for the site. In connection with this:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and/or other websites on the internet.
- Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick (DART) cookie, enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
- You can also opt out of many third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info (United States) or www.youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized based on your browsing. Google and its partners act under their own privacy policies; see Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Analytics: Microsoft Clarity
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site (which pages are viewed, scrolling and clicks, and technical errors) so we can fix problems and improve layouts. Clarity may use cookies and collects usage data, which Microsoft processes under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. We do not use Clarity to identify individual visitors.
6. Other third-party content
To display pages, your browser also loads some files directly from third parties: icon fonts from a public content-delivery network (cdnjs, operated by Cloudflare), country flag images, and flyer page images, which are loaded from the servers where the publicly available flyers are hosted. These providers necessarily receive your IP address and browser information when your browser requests those files. Flyer images are requested without sending them the address of the page you are on.
7. Why we process data (legal bases)
- Legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)): operating, securing and improving the site through server logs and basic analytics.
- Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), where the law requires it: non-essential cookies, such as personalized-advertising cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time using the browser settings and opt-out links above.
- Responding to you: when you email us, we use your message to reply and act on your request.
8. Your privacy rights
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland (GDPR / UK GDPR / FADP), you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy;
- rectify inaccurate data;
- erase your data ("right to be forgotten");
- restrict or object to processing, including processing based on legitimate interests and any processing for advertising;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing before the withdrawal; and
- lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident (CCPA / CPRA), you have the right to:
- know what categories of personal information are collected, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties it is disclosed to (all described in this policy);
- access and delete the personal information we hold about you, and correct inaccurate information;
- opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies set by Google and other ad partners may be considered "sharing" under California law; you can opt out using Google Ads Settings, aboutads.info, by blocking third-party cookies, or by enabling a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser; and
- not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
Residents of other places with similar laws (for example Brazil's LGPD or other US states' privacy laws) can exercise equivalent rights the same way.
How to make a request: email contact@ads21.net with the subject "Privacy request", say which right you want to exercise, and include any details (such as the email address you wrote to us from) that help us find relevant data. We will respond within the time required by law (normally within 30 days for GDPR requests and 45 days for CCPA requests). Because we hold very little data that is linked to a name, we may need to ask for information to verify the request. Requests about data held by Google or Microsoft can also be made directly to them.
9. Retention
Server logs are kept only for as long as our hosting provider needs them for operation and security. Emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request and any follow-up, then deleted. Third-party cookies remain on your device for the period set by their provider unless you delete them.
10. International transfers
Our service providers (hosting, Google, Microsoft, content-delivery networks) may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where this happens, these providers rely on recognized safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
11. Children
Ads21 is a general-audience shopping directory and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this page if the way the site works changes (for example, if we add a new advertising or analytics provider), and change the "Last updated" date above. See also our Terms of Use.
